I’m thinking of using Aspose Slides to convert pptx to images. I have noticed that the cloud version have some of the ms fonts preinstalled. I would like to know about the licensing terms of the fonts, which I can’t seem to find much information about this on the forums or docs.
Do I have to purchase license for the MS fonts that are being used on Aspose Slides cloud, if the generated images are used for commercial purposes, or is it covered when I purchase the license for Aspose Slides cloud?
Thanks in advance!

The Microsoft fonts (such as Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, etc.) preinstalled on the Aspose.Slides Cloud servers are available for use during document rendering, such as converting PPTX to images. When you use these built-in fonts via Aspose.Slides Cloud, the server-side font availability is provided as part of the service, and their use for rendering is covered under your Aspose.Slides Cloud subscription .
You do not need to purchase separate licenses for these preinstalled Microsoft fonts when generating images for commercial purposes, as long as you are relying on the fonts already present on the cloud servers . The service allows you to use these fonts without requiring additional licensing from you, beyond your valid Aspose.Slides Cloud license.
However, if you upload custom fonts using the fontsFolder parameter, you are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to use and embed those fonts . Built-in fonts can be identified via the API response where "IsCustom": false .
For reference, you can retrieve the list of available fonts on the server using the /fonts/available API endpoint .
In summary: No, you do not need to purchase additional licenses for the Microsoft fonts preinstalled on Aspose.Slides Cloud when using them for commercial image generation — usage is included with your Aspose.Slides Cloud license .
